Day 1

Leaving my parents and Tim behind at the airport was exactly what I expected. Very sad but i managed to pull myself together. I want to enjoy myself on this trip but I know I am going to miss them so much.
It still had not sunk in that i was going to India until I boarded the plane.  When it hit me that I was going to India, I suddenly freaked out and felt incredibly unprepared.
When I arrived at 6am I was picked up by my driver and taken to the YWCA.  It was incredibly quiet on the road at this point, definitely a weird first impression of india.
It turned out that check in wasn't until 12.30 so i had to wait 6 hours in the waiting room. Not fun when all you wanted was a shower and a nap. But I had the company of another girl on the trip.
At 12 we were greeted by most of the other participants and went out for lunch. I had my first curry, paneer panak for $4.
We spent most of the day introducing ourselves. There are 19 people in total, about half students and half corporate. Everyone is really nice and easy to talk to.
We spent the evening at a bar overlooking the ocean drinking beer and talking.
